Eicher School Parwanoo

Established in 1993, Eicher School Parwanoo is a distinguished English Medium Senior Secondary, Co-educational School affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi, operating under the auspices of The Goodearth Foundation. Nestled in a picturesque setting just 1.5 km from Parwanoo (H.P), the school enjoys a serene environment amidst the Shivalik ranges. Its blend of academic excellence and recreational amenities has carved a unique identity in the region.

The Founding and History of Eicher School Parwanoo

The concept of Eicher School Parwanoo originated from the vision of Shri Vikram Lal, the founder and former CEO of Eicher Motors. His dream was to provide high-quality and affordable education primarily for the children of Eicher employees. Over time, the schools transitioned into public schools owing to the substantial demand driven by their reputation for excellence and accessibility.

Foundational Principles and Values of Eicher School Parwanoo

In 1992, Mr. Ramesh Chandra Maheshwari moved from Hyderabad to Parwanoo Plant and enrolled his children at Bhavan Vidyalaya Chandigarh, given the limited schooling options in Parwanoo and nearby, such as Anand School at Sector 1 and DAV Surajpur at HMT. During this time, Mrs. Lata Vaidyanathan served as the principal of Bhavan Vidyalaya. Coincidentally, the company was exploring the idea of establishing a school in Parwanoo and Mr. Maheshwari recommended Mrs. Vaidyanathan to Mr. Malhotra. Invited to join the initiative, Mrs. Vaidyanathan became part of the think tank that aimed to create a school based on a holistic educational model.

After gaining recognition up to the middle level from the Himachal Education Board, the school was inaugurated on April 9, 1993, at the ancillary plant site in Sector-6, Parwanoo. It started with 41 students (23 in Nursery and 18 in Sixth class) and five teachers. The school adopted a “Fun Based Learning” pedagogy that engaged the body, mind, and heart of both students and teachers, quickly establishing itself as the most sought-after educational institution in the area. Small annual events were initially held at the Sector 6 school, with the first major annual event taking place at the Main Tractor Plant site in Sector 2 during the 1998-99 academic year.

On April 1, 1997, Eicher School Parwanoo received affiliation from CBSE, New Delhi, enabling it to start classes up to class 10. The first batch of class 10 students appeared for the board exams in the session 1997-98. Within a short period, a well-planned building was developed in a pollution-free environment amidst the serene Shivalik range mountains, away from the industrial hubbub.

Upon completion of the school building in the allotted land in Village Kamli, the new school premises were inaugurated by the former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Prem Kumar Dhumal. During this time, the school also attained affiliation with CBSE, New Delhi up to Senior Secondary level, with the first batch of class 12 students appearing for exams in the session 2001-2002.
